Chicago's Blues District

I couldn't fit it in the picture, but right above me is a huge blue, wrought iron arch proclaiming that you are entering Chicago's Historic Blues District. That's right Amigos, you are looking at the same neighborhood where B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Johnny Lee Hooker et al once lived and performed. However, the neighborhood is gentrifying (sp?). Since 1990, Chicago has closed three quarters of it's taverns. Developers have torn down many of the buildings that housed the haunts of the blues musicians. To make it attractive for the foreign tourists and to attract middleclass condo buyers, they have erected many yuppy type clubs and luxury condos. So while they are playing blues, is it still a "historic blues district"?
